Axereal is a leading agricultural and food processing cooperative group. We operate in France and around the world, originating grain andspecialising in its processing for the brewing and milling. Axereal originates and processes 4.5 million tonnes of grain each year. With 11,000 cooperative members and close to 3,000 employees, it generates turnover of around €3 billion annually.
Our mission: to develop the agricultural production of members in our areas by creating sustainable, competitive channels and adding value throughout the entire agri-food chain, from the farm to the consumer.
Our aim: to help bring high-quality food to the market by playing a major role in the agricultural transition.
We operate our grain business in the heart of one of Europe’s major cereal-growing regions. This territory covers 15 départements from the fertile plains of Beauce to the Perche region in the west and the Berry-Nivernais-Touraine area in the south.
Our agricultural channels are built from the farm upwards
Axereal Group’s operations are organised into six strategic divisions.
The Agriculture France division supports arable farmers from sowing through to harvest, and encompasses all the Group’s grain origination and trading activities in France. Our agricultural operations are organised into six sales regions.
The Agriculture Central Europe division supports farmers in the Pannonian Plain countries and originates their grain.
The Milling division, operated by Axiane Meunerie, secures the Group its place as France’s third largest miller. It supplies numerous artisan bakers and many big-name industrial bakeries.
The international Malting division, represented by Boortmalt, produces and markets malt around the world, for the brewing and distillery sectors. Boortmalt operates 27 malting plants on 5 continents, and sells its production in 120 countries. It runs two innovation centres, in Rosario (Argentina) and Antwerp (Belgium), to support its customers’ operations.
The Specialised Activities division includes Ax’Vigne (products and services for wine growers), Cibèle (Berry green lentils and millet), Brasserie de Chambord (production and sale of premium beers) and Lallemand (grain offal valorisation). These activities have strong local roots.
The Plant Protein division is operated by Intact, in which Axereal is a major partner. Intact processes legume crops, primarily protein peas, to make plant proteins and low-carbon alcohol for the food and cosmetics sectors.
The group head office at Olivet (Loiret, France) houses the cross-functional Corporate teams that complement these divisions.
